Tilly Norwood, infamous AI-generated Synthetic Performer

I recently published an article in FAZ Digitalwirtschaft (in German) titled "Hollywoods neue Feinde: Wenn KI-Künstler zu Stars werden", exploring the rise of AI-generated artists like Tilly Norwood and the controversy they’ve sparked in Hollywood.

In the article, I argue that the backlash from Hollywood’s creative unions against AI artists is less about preserving artistic integrity and more about protecting the status quo. While current AI characters can convincingly simulate personality and intent, they still lack the unpredictability and tension that make human collaboration creatively powerful. Yet, their rapid development suggests they could soon become valuable creative partners, not replacements.

Ultimately, I suggest that the real challenge is to rethink creativity itself, not as something exclusively human, but as a field that can expand through collaboration with intelligent machines.
