Hello and welcome back to The Mindshift AI Inference!

Last week we talked about skills.

Skills are the agent's hands.

They allow your agent to do things. Publish a post. Send an invoice. Search a CRM. Mirror a website. Create a presentation. Call an API.

But hands are not enough.

This week we need to talk about continuity.

Because an agent without continuity is not really an agent. It is a very capable assistant with amnesia.

Every task starts from zero.

Every preference has to be repeated.

Every project has to be explained again.

Every relationship is temporary.

That is not how humans work.

And it is not how useful agents will work either.

By now, most of us know that context matters. The better the context, the better the output.

If you are new to that idea, start here:

But a Second Brain takes this one level higher.

It does not just give your agent context for one prompt.

It gives your agent a complete operating framework.

What is a Second Brain?

A Second Brain for an agent has four parts.

Intelligence.

This is the model. The LLM. The reasoning engine. The thing that reads, interprets, decides, and writes.

Tools.

These are the skills. They give the agent hands. They turn intention into action.

Memory.

This is where continuity lives. It can be file-based. It can live in markdown notes. It can use a system like Honcho. The format matters less than the principle: your agent needs a persistent representation of your world.

Learning.

This is the feedback loop. What worked? What failed? Which outputs were good? Which decisions should be repeated? Which mistakes should never happen again?

Put those four together and something changes.

The agent stops being a chatbot.

It becomes a working system.

It can remember your projects.

It can understand your preferences.

It can reuse your workflows.

It can connect old ideas.

It can notice open loops.

It can build on what happened yesterday.

That is the real shift.

Not more prompts.

Continuity.

Next Wednesday I am giving an in-depth workshop on how to build and operate your own Second Brain for your AI agent.

Wednesday, May 27. 12:00–13:00 CET. Live on Zoom. €99. Limited seats.

You will learn:

How to design the architecture.

What belongs in the Second Brain, what belongs in a skill, and what should stay outside the system.

How to structure memory.

How to organize projects, people, notes, decisions, preferences, and recurring workflows so an agent can actually use them.

How to connect skills.

How to give your agent reliable hands without creating a messy collection of one-off scripts.

How to create feedback loops.

How to help your agent improve over time by tracking outcomes, collecting signals, and reusing what worked.

How to keep control.

How to make the system inspectable, portable, and yours. No black box. No hidden memory you cannot edit. No dependency on a single vendor.

The goal is simple:

Build an agent that does not start from zero every morning.

Build an agent that grows with you.

Skills give your agent hands.

A Second Brain gives it continuity.
